Our Community Room

Our Inclusion Team are on hand to support our children and families.

Our Community Room is our safe space, where we deliver our pastoral services for children and parents/carers.

The Community Room provides children with a safe space to talk, play and are empowered to take control of their decisions and emotions. Children can be timetabled in for support or can ‘drop in’ to talk to an Inclusion Officer.

If children would rather send an email, they can contact the Inclusion Officers with any worries or concerns by using the online ‘worries and wobbles box’ on this website (parents are also welcome to contact Inclusion Officers in this way).

Our Inclusion Officers are trained to support children presenting with Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties and those with additional needs.

They work closely with partnership agencies, to ensure that the children and families are offered the right support.

We also offer Breakfast Club spaces, free of charge, for our most vulnerable families.

As a school, we run a wide variety of after-school learning groups and sports clubs.

Interventions

We recognise that children are more successful at school if their emotional needs are also addressed.

A lot of interventions are delivered on an individual basis, but sometimes small group work is an effective way to help develop social and friendship skills.

The sessions are fun and involve lots of talking, games, role-play with puppets and arts & craft.

They take place in the Community Room, providing a calm, safe space for the child(ren) to feel supported and nurtured.

There is also always at least one Inclusion Officer available on the playground every morning to meet and greet the children and to help with support for children and parents/carers if needed.

We support for a wide range of emotional needs: recognising emotions; self-esteem; social skills; friendship skills; management of anger; anxiety and loss and bereavement.

Children can be referred by a parent or carer, class teacher, senior leader or the SENCO.
