What is PSHE.png

At Dale Community Primary School, PSHE is at the heart of what we do.

Our PSHE curriculum has a strong emphasis on emotional literacy and equipping the children with meaningful and relevant content to allow them to be able to play an active and positive part in their school, community and today’s diverse society.

We aim to enable our children to develop a deeper understanding of their health and wellbeing, including their physical and mental health. We want our children to use this knowledge to have high aspirations and belief in themselves and realise anything is possible if you work at it.

Within each age group there are 12 learning modules that will be taught over a two-year period.

The 12 modules are:

  1. Drug Education - including how to manage risk and peer influences

  2. Exploring Emotions - including how to recognise and manage feelings and emotions

  3. Being Healthy - including the importance of looking after our mental health.

  4. Growing up – recognising individuality and personal qualities, strengths, and skills

  5. Changes -  how different feelings effect the way we behave and identifying feelings associated to loss

  6. Bullying Matters - including how to ask for help

  7. Being Me - including identity and community

  8. Difference and Diversity - including challenging stereotypes

  9. Being Responsible - including looking after the environment

  10. Being Safe - including online and offline

  11. Relationships - including what is a healthy relationship
