Year 6 Remembers...

... To commemorate the centenary of World War 1, Year 6 have spent the Autumn term studying different aspects of the war and how it affected the lives of individuals at home and abroad. The infamous battles in Ypres, life in the trenches and the role of munitions workers in Derby were amongst some of the areas studied to investigate and interpret the past. The Great War also became the stimulus for Literacy and the pupils used a range of art work as inspiration for poems on the subject. Mrs Collins' class had the opportunity to work with The Fifth Word theatre group (see the link dated 1st October) to research, design and curate an exhibition on WW1 which will be exhibited at Sudbury Hall. The topic culminated in a trip to The National Memorial Arboretum, which was enjoyed by one and all! Click here to download a montage of images from the trip!
